A cooperation between Kalundborg Forsyning and Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S has resulted in economic savings, no waste of resources, reduced CO2 emissions – in other words, a true circular economy. In November 2015, Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S was contacted by Lars Sørensen, Team Manager at Kalundborg Forsyning A/S, who uses plastic pipes in connection with renovation projects for their water mains.

Kalundborg Forsyning has clear visions

Kalundborg Forsyning has clear intentions and visions of promoting the circular economy and would therefore like to investigate how their excess plastic pipes could be managed in an environmentally sound manner and thus avoid waste of resources. Environmental consultant from Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S and Team Manager Ronni Dam Petersen as well as Lars Sørensen entered into dialogue and various solutions were debated. At the end of November 2016, the right solution was found.

Delivers excess plastic pipes in the future

In the future, Kalundborg Forsyning will supply their excess plastic pipes to Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S in Mariager, where the pipes will be reprocessed, processed and refined into a new, quality raw material. The above type of pipe is not an insignificant plastic resource. Previously, they would have been thrown away, incinerated or exported out of the country as waste – instead they now create a positive carbon footprint and become a new commodity for the plastic processing industry with opportunities for increased sales and employment.
