SUPPLY COMPANIES THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE

That waste is a resource that can be worth a lot of money is clearly shown by the collaboration between many Danish venues of supply and Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S. In addition to the financial savings, the parties can also enjoy lower CO2 emissions.

The public utilities have clear intentions and visions of promoting the circular economy and would like to be part of having their excess plastic pipes being managed in an environmentally sound manner, thus avoiding waste of resources.

The public utilities have a number of renovation projects for their water mains every year. For these projects, PE-HD pipes with PP caps are used.

Together with the public utilities, we have found the right solution where the pipes and PP caps are reprocessed, processed and refined into a new, quality raw material.

PE pipes are not an insignificant plastic resource. Previously, they would have been thrown away, incinerated or exported out of the country as waste – instead they now create a positive carbon footprint and become a new commodity for the plastic processing industry with the resulting opportunities for increased sales and employment.

We can conclude that the collaboration between the public utilities and Aage Vestergaard Larsen A/S is a success!

Just one load represents over 10 tonnes of “new” plastic resource that would otherwise have been thrown away, incinerated or exported out of the country as waste. I.e. a financial saving, no waste of resources, reduced CO2 emissions combined with circular economy.
